If cute cats on YouTube and the latest iTunes Store season of Robot Chicken just aren't letting you escape like they used to, Joost's eclectic library of streaming, premium content is now accessible on the iPhone.

Available now in the App Store, Joost for iPhone (iTunes link) brings the company's catalog of films, TV shows, and web clips to the iPhone for free. Joost boasts a global catalog of over 46,000 items, including 18,000 music videos, 400 TV series and 1,200 movies and short films. Among that respectable catalog are Beyoncé music videos, films like The Fifth Element and Men in Black, TV series like Smallville and Metalocalypse, and plenty of short clips with cats and Victoria's Secret models.

Joost's app works pretty well, and it appears that the company's entire catalog is indeed available on the iPhone. Understandably, streaming only works over WiFi, and you can't even browse or search the catalog if you're on 3G or EDGE. Joost made some interesting choices with the app's UI, as the player uses some non-standard buttons when mimicking Apple's QuickTime controls. But while you can swipe to browse to the next page in a category or search results, the page simply reloads in place and does not slide left or right like in other apps.

Ironically, after the company nixed its desktop software in October in favor of a web-only service and community, this may be the only native client that Joost produces now. While the company has a chance to pull ahead when it comes to delivering free, premium content to the iPhone, though, the company didn't harness any community interaction with the current version of this app. There is no way to log in or actually do anything with the videos besides watch them. There also is a noticeable lack of ads or any other monetization in the Joost iPhone app—for now.
