While TomTom should have been the first, it looks like it’s waiting to be the last. Maybe they can surprise us with something special, but I think they waited to long. Another navigation app will find its way to the App Store soon: Navmii.

Navmii is a British developer and has made Navmii available for Windows Mobile, Nokia’s and laptops. They’ve now begun with the development of Navmii for the iPhone. Unfortunately, the software is only supported in Great-Britain and Ireland. Navmii is planning to come with navigation software for Europe and North-America. Hopefully also for the iPhone.

The app uses maps from Tele Atlas and offers an extra function called GeoFriend. With this you can send you locations to your friends and visa versa, so you know where they are. But you can also plan a route to those friends. TomTom also has such a function which they call TomTom Buddies.

Below is a short demo version showing the test version of Navmii running on Apple iPhone. Release date for UK & Ireland and North America August 2009.
